Your Neighborhood at a Glance: Good Romance on the Upper West Side You won’t find a bad romance here. I mean, what’s more romantic than Italian food? Lady Gaga’s dad, Joe Germanatto, is opening up an Italian restaurant called Joanne on Wednesday, February 1st, at 70 West 68th Street. Renowned celebrity chef, Art Smith, who has cooked for the likes of President Obama and Oprah Winfrey, will craft the food for the eatery. Judging from the phone calls and media attention though, patrons will be frequenting the establishment in hopes of catching a glimpse of LadyGaga‘s poker face. She did celebrate New Year’s Eve at the restaurant site with a host of A-List friends. All the attention is well and good for the area, as local businesses welcome the foot traffic and what is, hopefully, a successful Italian restaurant. The location of Joanne is near some great shops, such as 67 Wine, another acclaimed restaurant in Telepan, and great retail shopping in Burberry Brit, UGG Australia and Kiehls. It is also not too far from our Upper West Side Office at 79th & Columbus.  It’s already a pleasant location, it’s the Upper West Side, it was just born that way.
