Darien Restaurant Week
Darien, Connecticut is celebrating another year of great progress in the local restaurant scene with Darien Restaurant Week, which begins on Monday, February 6th, and runs through Friday, February 10th. The area has seen so many new first-class culinary establishments open up over the past couple of years and upgrades to classic neighborhood restaurants that it has become a genuine restaurant destination.
Darien Restaurant week provides the opportunity to try out some of these new restaurants, or re-visit some of your favorites, with special lunch or dinner prix fixe menus at considerable bargains. The prix fixe menus offer a minimum of three courses. For the mid-range restaurants, lunch will run $10.12 and dinner will cost $15.12. For the high-end establishments, lunch is $20.12, while dinner is $30.12.
Here are some of the “must-try” restaurants according to our local expert agents:
Chuck’s Steakhouse is the perfect spot if you’re in the mood for steak. They have 10 different cuts of steak, we recommend the black angus porterhouse, or pair the lobster tail with a filet mignon for a delicious Surf and Turf. Take the meal to the next level by pairing any cut of steak with the California Cabernet Sauvignon. There’s also a bar and lounge, for you to kick back and enjoy some specialty cocktails after your meal.
Scena Wine Bar and Restaurant offers an intimate, rustic atmosphere and an expansive wine selection. The chef has also earned acclaim with outstanding Italian dishes such as the ricotta gnocchi in a classic beef Bolognese with aged pecorino, or the seared sea scallops with poached lobster, mushroom broth, celery root confit and roasted baby carrots.
The brand new Darien Social is a modern take on the classic American bar and restaurant. The menu offers comforting favorites and unique new dishes. This looks like it will be a great place to gather with friends, as there are 31 beers on tap and an extensive cocktail menu.
Café D’Azur is a French Mediterranean bistro and creperie that is a wonderful experience. The freshly prepared cuisine has French classics such as Steak Au Poivre, foie gras, crepes, and escargot, to go along with Mediterranean specialties like lamb kabobs, hummus, and falafel. The atmosphere is chic and romantic, and there is a hand-picked wine list that matches the dishes perfectly.
