Where Does The Ticker Tape Come From?
As we all watched today’s Ticker Tape Parade for our Super Bowl Champion New York Giants in person or remotely on TV/Computer we are sure you thought “Where the heck does all that Ticker Tape Come From?” That is a good question…
The celebratory confetti is produced by shredding donated recycled paper from Atlas Materials and Packaging, a Red Hook based recycling plant which uses the paper usually for pet bedding. The strips are 24-30 inches long and about a half inch wide. In total several tons paper is distributed along the Canyon of Heroes.
At the end over 300 sanitation worked surround the area to clean it spotless in a matter of hours like nothing ever happened, until the first windy day when remnant paper will come off of the building ledges where it might have been stuck for an impromptu “snow storm”.
Only in New York…
