MORE COVERAGE OF MACY’S 4th OF JULY FIREWORKS DISPLAY

It’s just about that time of year again to bring out your red, white and blue and to celebrate our country’s independence! One of the most recognized and extravagant fireworks shows in the nation is the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks and it will take place Wednesday, July 4th for the 36th year in a row on Manhattan’s West Side. This year’s show is called “Ignite the Night” and will feature musical performances by global superstar Katy Perry and country music’s  Kenny Chesney.

The 25 minute fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9pm and feature an impressive 40,000 fireworks display synchronized to a 12-track musical score including patriotic favorites such as “God Bless America”, “The Star Spangled Banner”, “Holiday” by Madonna, “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles and many, many more!

For optimum viewing, head over to the West Side in the late afternoon as massive crowds are anticipated to fill the streets quickly (leave your cars at home because there will not be any additional parking available). Unobstructed rooftop views may be your best bet but keep in mind you will NOT be able to see the fireworks from the East Side, Battery Park, or any of the Hudson River Piers.

Access Points for the big show are located on the following streets by 11th Avenue:

  • 24th-26th Streets
  • 27th-29th Streets
  • 33rd-34th Streets
  • 44th- 50th Streets
  • 52nd- 54th Streets
  • 56th- 57th Streets
