A 24-hour Sweet-Tooth Fix

The cupcake craze just became automatic, allowing those late-night emergency sugar cravings to be satisfied. Sprinkles Cupcakes, located on Lexington Avenue between 60th and 61st Street, has made an annoucement that is sure to please NYC cupcake connoisseurs. This summer, the bakery will be installing three 24-hour cupcake ATMs across the city. They’re calling them “Cupcake Automats” and while exact locations haven’t been determined yet, there will be one placed Downtown, one in Midtown, and one on the Upper West Side

The Sprinkles bakery on Lexington is the only one in the city, so this is a great way to avoid the long lines and still get in on the world-renowned Sprinkles craftsmanship. The innovative idea for cupcake ATMs comes from the cupcake creative mind of company founder, Candace Nelson, who happens to also be a judge on Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars.” In other words, her expertise on the subjects of cupcakes is undeniable.

The Cupcake Automats will be packed with a few hundred freshly baked designer cupcakes at a time. We’re not sure how many flavors will be available, but Sprinkles offers a wide variety of different cakes that are all delicious. We’re hoping our favorites chai latte, banana, lemon coconut, and peanut butter chocolate will be available in the ATMs, so we can satisfy our own after-hours cravings.

A perfect way to indulge in a cold weather treat this season in New York City is at the famous Upper East Side establishment, Serendipity 3 restaurant, made pop culture famous by the feature film “Serendipity” starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack.  Enjoy the original and world-renowned frozen hot-chocolate.  It is just one of those things that should be on a ‘bucket list’.

Some may argue that there isn’t a food item more quintessentially New York than a good ol’ New York style Cheesecake.  While there are maybe a million or so renditions of this classic and popular American dessert, New York Mag recommends some great season appropriate (and delicious) pumpkin cheesecake desserts that are worth showing off at your Thanksgiving dinner.
