Feel at ease that this resort is also sure to be less crowded than some of the more popular resorts in the area. For those located in New Jersey, you don’t have to pack up the car and head that much more north to enjoy a day of winter fun activities either, Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ is a great spot to enjoy a day, or an entire weekend of skiing. With on-site lodging and 167 acres for skiing and exploring, it serves as the ideal spot for a weekend getaway. Forget a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day, we’re seeking a nice, soothing cup of spiked hot tea to get us through the season. Tea itself is loaded with antioxidants, and there are many places throughout the city that have perfected a relaxing cup of tea. CBS New York recommends trying Belvedere Black Raspberry or Jewel of Russia Wild Berry vodka infused Chai or Darjeeling tea during the High Tea service at the famous Russian Tea Room located at 150 West 57th Street, New York, NY 10019. Some (more so than others…) may be delighted that the arctic blast that’s equated with a New York City winter is finally upon us. Cold and blustery weather puts everyone in the mood for a little self-indulgence and what better way to self-indulge than in one of the city’s uber chic and intimate spa jacuzzi’s. Even if you have your own retreat and hot tub at home, any excuse for an afternoon spent at the spa is welcomed. As Time Out New York points out, the spa at the Setai Club in the Financial District boasts a particularly cozy refuge from the elements outside with their day passes to the steam room, sauna and tranquil Jacuzzi, pictured above. More details can be found here.

One of the great things about New York City is the plethora of outdoor dining spaces. Just because the colder weather is upon us doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy dining al fresco at some of our favorite spots, either. From cozy fire pits to heated tents, check out these hot spot restaurants located throughout the city including Upstairs at the Kimberley and Press Lounge. (Image Courtesy: Upstairsnyc.com)
Just because the temperatures have dropped and there’s (supposed to be) snow on the ground doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a nice picnic in the park. The popular indoor park in Nolita has returned for the winter months and over the course of it’s tenure will host concert series with Rolling Stone Magazine, wine tastings and much more. The indoor oasis is equipped with WiFi and admission is free! The park is will remain open until February 15th and more details about how to get in can be found here. (Image Courtesy: ParkHere)

A perfect way to indulge in a cold weather treat this season in New York City is at the famous Upper East Side establishment, Serendipity 3 restaurant, made pop culture famous by the feature film “Serendipity” starring Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack. Enjoy the original and world-renowned frozen hot-chocolate. It is just one of those things that should be on a ‘bucket list’.
Central Park is particularly beautiful during the holiday season, and now is a great time to visit the Central Park Zoo.
